Last week, at Chariot Claims we announced a $10 million Series A led by Silverton Partners; Crunchbase News covered the raise. This funding goes toward our mission: making it harder for companies to get away with breaking the law and delivering compensation to those affected. Here's what that means for you, and what we're building next.

Why most people never collect

When a company overcharges customers, adds hidden fees, or mishandles personal data, the people affected rarely see anything come of it. In class action settlements, only about 4 percent of eligible consumers file a claim. Consumers receive notices that look like junk mail, the process takes years, and the check is often small. For a large company, a settlement that almost nobody collects on costs less than following the law in the first place.

How Chariot works differently

A class action bundles everyone into one lawsuit. At Chariot, we've flipped the script using mass arbitration instead. Mass arbitration allows thousands of people to each bring their own claim, and our partner law firms coordinate them together. Each person keeps individual representation, and has more say over their claim.

We estimate the average recovery through Chariot at $460 per person compared to the average class action payment of about $32.

For years, this model was hard to run at scale, because each individual claim comes with its own paperwork, evidence, and follow-up. Chariot’s AI platform handles the bulk of that work, processing more than 200,000 claims a month.

Who backed the round

Silverton Partners led the round. Indicator Ventures, Lightbank, Neon Fund, ZVC, Rosecliff Venture Partners, Alumni Ventures, FJ Labs, Graph Ventures, Vermilion Ventures, and several angel investors also participated.

"Chariot has built the technology to make individual claims work at scale, and the team to operate it in a category where execution is genuinely hard," said Mike Dodd, General Partner at Silverton Partners.

What this funding is for

Most people never hear about the fights that shape their rights, and even fewer have the time, money, or organization to push back. California's SB 690 is a recent example. It was introduced to curb lawsuits against small businesses, but as signed, it limits consumers' right to sue individually under part of the state's privacy law.

That's why we're building more than a claims platform. Chariot gives everyday people a way to learn when their rights may have been violated, organize around shared harm, and pursue compensation together. This funding also lets us invest in education about privacy rights and in legislation that protects consumers.

"Companies are betting that consumers are too busy and too outmatched to fight back," said Zim Hang, co-founder and CEO of Chariot Claims. "We're betting on what happens when they finally have the tools to do it. Our goal is simple: organize people who have been harmed by megacorps, and make it more expensive to break the law than to follow it."

Our team more than doubled this year, and we're still growing. In the video below, Zim shares the news and talks through what Chariot is building to change how consumers take on corporate misconduct. If you want the longer version of how we got here, read Why we built Chariot.
