Founder Zim Hang shares why he built Chariot: to fight corporate wrongdoing, close legal loopholes, and get real compensation to everyday people.

From Zim Hang, Founder

I’ve spent most of my career building for everyday people, and over time I started to notice a disturbing pattern: large corporations are repeatedly breaking the law, and getting away with it.

To name a few, companies are selling personal data (even from “private” modes), hiding fees, and rigging their T&Cs to limit consumer rights, all while making billions. And, they rarely are held accountable. Especially not in a way that actually reaches the people harmed.

I realized that if we wanted a different outcome, we needed a different strategy.
That’s why we built Chariot Claims.

The Business of Breaking the Law

Today’s corporate culture doesn’t just tolerate legal risk — it often relies on it. Behind the scenes, corporations are doing the math:

If Potential Revenue - Potential Regulatory Action/Fines/Settlements > $??M, then let's break the law.

Big corporations know the system works in their favor. Regulatory agencies have seen their resources cut for years, and even when investigations do happen, they often take a long time to move forward, sometimes years.

Google is a clear example. For years, they tracked and sold data from Google Chrome’s Incognito mode — despite marketing it as private. The company made billions off that practice, and only recently have they started to face consequences. To-date, they still haven't had to pay anything to any consumers who had their data sold.

So why is it so hard to hold corporations accountable?

Because the system was built — and in many cases, re-built — to make it that way. These companies have vast legal teams and powerful lobbyists working to create systems that make it harder to go after them. The whole mass arbitration procedure came to be because companies had the clever idea to have their customers "agree" to sign away their right to class action and to arbitration.

The Legal Arms Race, and Our Response

What it’s turned into is a legal, operational, and technological arms race. For example, in response to class waivers, plaintiffs’ law firms began organizing thousands of individuals to file arbitration claims en masse. And now, the cycle continues. Some corporations have added “fee-shifting” provisions to those same waivers, making it more risky and expensive for individuals to try and hold them accountable through arbitration.

Our response is to build a platform to continue to stay ahead of that race with the right combination of:

  • Technology and automation that removes friction

  • Best-in-class legal network to carry cases forward

  • And a mission-driven team focused on real justice

A Path to Real Compensation

When corporations break the law, the people they harm deserve to be compensated. That part is simple. But where exactly do you start?

  • Figure out what you're legally entitled to?

  • Write to the company and ask for compensation?

  • Find a lawyer to file a claim?

  • Find a thousand other people who have been harmed and want to take action through arbitration?

It’s confusing and most people don’t have the time, resources, or legal expertise to navigate that process. And that’s exactly what many companies are counting on.

Chariot is built with the best technology and legal research, so we're able to handle everything for you, and thousands of people who've been harmed just like you. We get the case to scale, and get you the compensation you deserve.

A Fairer Future

We imagine a future where fairness is the norm, and no dollar goes unclaimed.

What if every time a company broke the law and sold your data, you actually saw $100s hit your account the next day? That’s the future we’re building.

Join us. File a claim or follow along as we fight for collective justice.
