🔐 One-Time Password (OTP): What It Is and Why It Matters

First, the basics!

One-Time Password (OTP) verification is a security feature that adds a second layer of verification when you log into your account. Instead of relying on a password, Chariot’s claim submission portal will send you a one-time code to enter that confirms your identity in a second way. The OTP code will be sent to your email, depending on your selection preference.

Think of it like a concert ticket with a QR code that self-destructs after one scan — even if someone photographs it, it's worthless the moment you've used it.

Why we added it

Your Chariot account contains sensitive personal and legal information. As we scale and handle claims for more people, protecting that data isn't optional. For more information on what we collect and why, read our blog: Why We Collect Personal Information at Claim Intake.

Here's the thing: we ask corporations to be held accountable for how they handle your data. It would be hypocritical not to hold ourselves to the same standard.

OTP is now the default login method for all active and new Chariot users. It takes only a few minutes to receive the code and log into your account.

How it works

  1. Enter your email to log in to app.chariotclaims.com or create a new account

  2. Check your inbox — Chariot will send you a 6-digit verification code from support@chariotclaims.com

  3. Enter the code that was sent in the 6-digit field on screen and hit Continue

  4. You're in — you'll land on your account dashboard or be prompted to set up your account if you are a new user.

💡 Pro tip: If you don't see the email, check your spam folder and add support@chariotclaims.com to your contacts to make sure future messages come through.

📋 Submitting a Chariot Claim: What's New

What changed

We've updated our claims submission flow to make the process clearer and faster. Whether you're filing your first claim or your fifth, the new flow walks you through each step in plain language — no legal jargon, no confusion about what information is needed or why.

A few things you'll notice:

  • Clearer prompts at each step so you know exactly what to enter

  • Progress tracking so you always know where you are in the process

  • Helpful hints right next to each field for anything that might need a little extra context

How to submit a claim

  1. Log in or create your account at app.chariotclaims.com and verify your identity with your one-time code

  2. Browse active cases — find the company or case type that applies to you

  3. Start your claim — click "File a Claim" and follow the step-by-step intake wizard. A progress bar at the top will show you exactly how far along you are

  4. Review your Agency Agreement — you'll be asked to review and agree to Chariot's Services & Authorization Agreement, which authorizes us to act as your agent to file claims on your behalf

  5. Provide your details — confirm your eligibility and enter any relevant transaction info (purchase dates, account history, etc.)

  6. Submit — once you hit submit, you’ll see a confirmation screen. Here’s what happens next:

  • You'll receive email updates from support@chariotclaims.com

  • You can track your claim anytime in your Claims Dashboard

  • Claims may take 6–18+ months before potential payout — we'll keep you in the loop the whole way with periodic updates.

💡 Not sure if you qualify? That's okay — Our intake wizard is designed to help you figure out eligibility as you go, and there's no cost to inquiring. If you don’t qualify, you’ll still receive alerts about any future cases you may be eligible for as an active user.
